X-Men: Apocalypse Casting

OH MY GOD, YOU GUYS.

Have you heard the news about the casting for the new X-Men movie? I am so excited to see Sophie Turner as a young Jean Grey. I'm a huge Game of Thrones fan and I think she does a brilliant job as Sansa Stark, and even though she was up against some serious competition (she beat out Elle Fanning for cryin' out loud!) I honestly think she's an awesome choice.

I'm not too familiar with the other actors that they chose for young Storm and young Cyclops though, Alexandra Shipp and Tye Sheridan, so we'll see about that. I've been looking forward to this new installment ever since I saw the post credit scene in Days of Future Past, and these new additions to the cast are just making me want the movie to come out even more.

What do you guys think of the casting?

Top 5: Potential Slayers

So remember in Buffy the Vampire Slayer when they did that spell to unlock all the potential slayers? I was always upset that I was never one of them, I always wanted to be the Chosen One, but it turns out I'm more of a Xander- full of sass and a vision problem. I always wonder who would've made a good Slayer, so here's a list of the top 5 characters I would've liked to see:

1. Xena: She's already a warrior princess, she uses her fighting ability to help people, and she also has the best friend sidekick thing going on with Gabrielle, who helps keep her balanced and on the path for the greater good, just like Willow.

2. Black Widow: Now, I know Natasha gets sort of a bad rep from her time as a Russian spy, but you can't deny homegirl's skill. She's an expert in combat, she's highly intelligent and an accomplished tactician. The First wouldn't have stood a chance against her.

3. River Tam: She was always considered a prodigy, ever since she was young, she was intelligent and athletic. Then she had her brain tampered with and basically turned into a human weapon. On more than one occasion, she's taken on multiple opponents barely getting a scratch on her. If she can take on a room full of Reavers, I think she can handle a few vampires.

4. Mara Jade Skywalker: She's a self-proclaimed fighter, always needing a challenge, and what could be more fun than patrolling and slaying vamps? Yeah, she's flawed (I mean, she did start out as the Emperor's Hand) but so was Buffy. Mara Jade has proved she could be trusted and that she's a strong ally, and seeing a Jedi fighting demons with a lightsaber would be awesome.

5. Dark Phoenix: You can't tell me she wouldn't be a total Faith.

Honorable Mention:

Hermione Granger: You can't possibly have a Slayer without a Watcher, and no one loves delving into research as much as Hermione. She really would be the perfect Rupert Giles.

Who would you guys pick as a Slayer?

Ant-Man Trailer

I have to admit, I was never really into Ant-Man, and when I heard that Marvel was making a movie featuring him, my first reaction was "ehh, ok?" Now, after seeing the trailer, I'm actually sorta/kinda looking forward to it.

I think a lot of it has to do with Paul Rudd, I just love him. The trailer isn't very long, but it seems like he does a pretty good job as Scott Lang, the petty yet charming thief who takes over the Ant-Man mantle from Hank Pym, played by a very sharp lookin' Michael Douglas.

I still haven't figured out if it's gonna sell me on Ant-Man completely yet, though. Like, I still can't tell if I'm gonna walk out of the movie theater going, "What was I thinking all those years?! Ant-Man's so cool and great!" but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

What do you guys thinks?

Vans Star Wars Collection

I've worn the same beat up holey pair of Vans for years now. I've lost count of how many times I've been told by people I didn't even know that I should get new shoes, but I never listened cause I never really saw the point in it. I'm not the type to fuss over holey shoes, until I saw these babies.

Recently, Vans came out with a Star Wars collection and they were all just too nice to pass up. A friend of mine had bought a pair for her fiance, and told me to check them out, and I'm so glad I did. Now, instead of holes I have shoes with wampas and tauntauns on them, and I'm pumped about it. Also, the aglets on the shoelace are meant to look like the hilt of a lightsaber and I think that's awesome.

They have a bunch of different styles ranging from the authentics like these, to slip ons to Sk8-His. All with Star Wars imagery, and in pretty much any size you could possibly be looking for, be it mens, womens or kids (I got mine in kids, it pays to have a tiny foot!), and all are in the $42-$60 price range. You can check out the whole collection on the Vans site here.
