Let's Talk: The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Everyone I know has been yelling at me for the past week since I haven't seen the new Avengers movie yet, but my brother and I have this tradition of going to see comic book movies together, and since he has a more exciting life than I do, I had to wait until he was free. I finally got around to seeing it today, and no surprise, I really enjoyed it.

I liked the fact that Hawkeye has this hidden normal life with a wife and kids and a farm. I did find the Hulk/Black Widow love connection a bit odd at first, but they way they used it as her being his sort of tether, the thing that can help him from going full Hulk Smash and bring him back down, I thought was sort of endearing. I do really wish at some point we can get a Black Widow origin movie, because the small glimpses into her past just weren't enough for me. I wanna/need to see it all. C'mon, Marvel.

I also really liked Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. My heart hurt a bit at the end with Quicksilver (I won't say anything else besides that, just in case anyone reading this hasn't seen it yet.) I've always loved Scarlet Witch and I think Elizabeth Olsen did a really good job portraying her. And holy cow, does she look like Mary Kate and Ashley, a few times I half expected her to channel Michelle Tanner and throw a sassy, "You got it, dude" at someone, but alas, she did not. Maybe next time.

Oh, and Vision. He looked doooooooooope. I saw a few pictures circling around the internet of him beforehand, but he looked way cooler on screen with his permanent billowing cape.

I heard a few people tell me they were on the fence about the movie because they didn't like the whole plot or whatever, but I liked it. I'm always a fan of quippy one liners and this movie had no shortage of those, and I'll just always love Marvel.

I was even pumped over seeing the Ant-Man trailer beforehand, and if you saw my post about that a while back you'd know I'm not the biggest Ant-Man fan, but I was still into it because I grew up reading Marvel comics and seeing them come to life on the big screen will always be exciting to me.

Have you guys seen it? What'd you think?

  1. I thought it was fun and funny, but the action was a bit meh. A lot of people were disappointed because they seem to expect so much more. I'm looking forward to the next Cap movies. Seems like those will be awesome!

    Ant Man looks so fun!
