End of the Year Book Survey

Hello, all!

You all know how much I love a bookish tag, and this is my favorite to recap the year with. I know there's still a fair bit left in the month, but I couldn't wait any longer.


How many books did you read this year?

I'm currently at 310.

What's your most read genre?

Fantasy.

The longest book and the shortest book you read?

Shortest book was probably The Situationship by Abby Jimenez, and the longest was probably Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson.

A favorite book published in 2024?

There were so many good books released this year, but I'll go with Lost and Lassoed by Lyla Sage.

Favorite debut of 2024?

How to Solve Your Own Murder by Kristen Perrin.

Favorite book not published in 2024?

Reckless by Elsie Silver.

A book that lived up to the hype?

Bonesmith by Nicki Pau Preto.

A book that didn't live up the the hype?

Five Broken Blades by Mai Corland.

A book that felt like an accomplishment to read?

The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson.

Favorite character?

The Elric brothers from Fullmetal Alchemist.

Least favorite character?

The entire cast of The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown.

Most well written book of the year?

A Dark and Secret Magic by Wallis Kinney felt like it embodied autumn.

The book you pushed the most people to read?

Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez.

Favorite book to movie adaptation?

I loved the My Lady Jane TV series and I'm still upset over its cancellation.

Book that made you cry the most?

I never cry at books, but Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune made me tear up.

Book that made you laugh the most?

Her Knight at the Museum by Bryn Donovan had me laughing over how absolutely bonkers it was.

A new favorite author(s) you discovered in 2024?

Maybe Sarah Adler.

Favorite book you re-read in 2024?

I've been slowly re-reading the Goosebumps books and it's been a cheesy fun time.

Best non-fiction you read in 2024?

I didn't read many, but I loved But Will You Love Me Tomorrow? about girl groups from the '60s.

Are you happy with your reading year?

I had quite a few flops, but overall, yes!
