Jenny Dove has spent years training as an opera singer, determined not to let anything get in the way of her dream of being on stage. Jenny watched her mother sacrifice her career for a fleeting love, and Jenny refuses to walk in her footsteps. But when Jenny's younger sister is in need, Jenny makes a bargain that changes everything. Jenny will marry a well-bred man of means just long enough for her and her sister to receive their inheritance, and then she'll return to Paris to live out her dreams.
Lord David Felding is heir to a dukedom and a notorious rake. David has never had any interest in taking a wife, until he met Jenny. David has flirted with Jenny in the past, but never thought she'd be audacious enough to proposition him with one night in her bed in exchange for his name. It's supposed to be a simple bargain, but their night together leads to emotions neither was expecting.St. George went and saved the best for last! I enjoyed the previous two books, but this one was my favorite. I love the marriage of convenience trope, and it was so well done here. I also just love watching a supposed rake fall head over heels. It hits every time. It was so adorable watching David try to woo Jenny. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the two of them realize how down bad they were for the other. David was so supportive of Jenny's career, and she was a safe space for him to be vulnerable. Their quiet moments together were some of my favorites. I feel like St. George's books are slightly underrated, and I just need more people to pick them up because they're so good.
