The Love Simulation- Etta Easton: Brianna Rogers has never shied away from a challenge. So when her principal decides to spend their budget on revamping the football field instead of the outdated library, Brianna decides to take matters into her own hands. She joins a group of teachers to participate in a six-week Mars simulation competition. As Vice Principal, Brianna has tried to keep her colleagues at arm's length, but she knows that prize money is just what the library needs, and she's willing to go out all to ensure she wins. But Brianna didn't count on Roman Major, the handsome science teacher and principal's son, to join their crew. Brianna and Roman have been hot and cold all year, and living in such tight quarters doesn't help their growing attraction. But when little things start going wrong with their mission, Brianna can't help but think that Roman has ulterior motives for being here. As the simulation winds down, Brianna has to choose between following reason or her heart.
I don't know what Easton puts in her books, but I'm hooked. I ate up her previous book, so it was no surprise that I did the same with this one. Her writing is breezy, and the sweet and steamy moments are perfectly balanced. I thought the premise of this was so fun. I loved the forced proximity we got from Brianna and Roman getting thrown together in small quarters. Watching them dance around one another before finally giving in to their feelings had me kicking my little feet. I saw how the third-act drama would play out, but I appreciated how quickly it resolved. The only other issue I had was that I wish Easton played up the competition element a little more because I kept forgetting that people could watch what they were doing in this Mars bubble. Other than that, I thought this was great, and I'll pick up whatever Easton comes out with next.

The Trouble with Inventing a Viscount- Vivienne Lorret: Honoria Hartley is a shameless flirt with no intentions of marrying despite being betrothed since birth to Viscount Vandemere. But no one has ever met the long-lost viscount, and with no heir in sight, the title is teetering on extinction, leaving Honoria in a jam. Determined to keep up her engagement ruse, Honoria goes to great lengths to make it seem like Vandemere is alive and well, even going so far as to send letters to herself from him. So imagine her surprise when the viscount turns up on her doorstep. Oscar Flint has been estranged from his father's side of the family for his entire life, growing up instead under the tutelage of a con man. Oscar is very good at what he does, and no one has ever bested him until he meets Honoria. Losing out to her puts Oscar in a bind, but when he remembers the story she told him about her fiancé, Oscar decides it's time for a little payback. The only problem? Oscar wasn't planning on falling for Honoria or that his ruse would lead to even more questions about his past.
I've wanted to pick something up by Lorret for a while now, but I'm not sure this was the way to go. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't all that interesting either. Based on the premise, I was expecting a bit of cat-and-mouse between our two main characters, and while their banter was spot-on, it felt like something was missing. I enjoyed watching them rile each other up, but I wanted to see more depth in their relationship. I also wasn't particularly invested in the plot. It was way too long and then wrapped up too quickly. I'm still interested in reading more from this author, but I don't think I'll make it a priority.

Reckless- Elsie Silver: Winter Hamilton's life recently imploded, and she couldn't be happier. She's ready to put everything--especially her horrible ex-husband and frigid mother--behind her and start fresh in Chestnut Springs. Winter hopes that moving to this small town will bring her closer to her sister, Summer, and they can finally have the relationship they've both craved for so long. Theo Silva is a notorious playboy and shameless flirt. He knows the effect he has on women, and the fact that Winter seems immune only strengthens his interest. When one wild night together leaves Winter pregnant, she expects to go through it all alone, but Theo has never been one to give up on what he wants.
Oh, Mylanta, Theo Silva swooped in and stole the crown for my favorite Chestnut Springs hero. He oozes charisma and has this bad-boy energy, but he is the sweetest. I loved watching him and Winter rile each other up. They complemented one another so well. Winter is standoffish and has a lot of deep-seated insecurities, and watching Theo accept every part of her just tugged on my heartstrings, and her character growth by the end was so satisfying. I've always said I'm not a fan of the accidental pregnancy trope, but Silver had me eating my words here. I adored the little family they formed, and every interaction between Theo and Vivi had me swooning. It's easily my new favorite in the series, and I highly recommend everyone check it out.
