Fever Dream Review (Emerald Lake, #1)
Hello, all!
Let's chat about Fever Dream by Elsie Silver.
| Pub Date: 5-19-16 Adult - Contemporary Romance |
Emmett is a professional bull rider and has a reputation around the circuit for being a playboy. This notoriety leads to him being offered the chance to play the bachelor on a new reality dating show. Emmett isn't one for the spotlight, but his family could desperately use the money they're offering, so he reluctantly agrees. Emmett figures he'll put on a show for a few weeks, earn a paycheck, and get out, but then he wasn't expecting to cross paths with Julia Silva.
Julia has just finished school and secured her first position as a location consultant for a new TV show, but then she learns the star of that show is none other than her brother's professional rival. At first, Julia tries to stay away from Emmett, but the pair keep gravitating towards one another. Julia has always believed Emmett to be the cocky bad boy, but she begins to see the real version he keeps locked away. Emmett knows his job is to fall in love, but what happens when the girl he wants isn't one of the contestants?I'm always down for a new Elsie Silver series, and this one was so fun. Julia and Emmett worked so well together. They had this teasing, playful banter that I ate up. I liked how they had a little bit of history already before they started working together, because it helped Julia recognize that Emmett isn't who people think he is. He had such a tough exterior, but he was so caring and loving once he felt comfortable around Julia. I also loved all the moments we got with his family. They're completely ridiculous, and I loved it. The romance was a bit slow burn, but it had me hooked. I thought there could have been more done with the dating show aspect, but it was still enjoyable. Overall, it was a solid start, and I’m excited for the next book.
