In Stormy Weather- Chelsea Curto: Quincy Monroe has a PhD in atmospheric sciences, but instead of pursuing an academic career, as her parents had hoped, she hosts a highly popular online weather show with over a million followers. There's nothing Quincy loves more than sharing her joy and knowledge of the weather with people, while also raising awareness about the dangers. When Quincy gets an opportunity to apply for a position at the National Weather Service, she knows this is her shot to get taken seriously in the male-dominated field. But one person is standing in her way: Sebastian Dunn. Not only is Sebastian Quincy's best friend's brother, but the pair have been rivals since their school days. Now, a flashy TV-weather reporter, Sebastian, is back in town covering hurricane season, and he and Quincy decide to work together, but it doesn't take long before they're chasing feelings, not storms.
I've only recently started reading Curto's books, but I've been loving them so far. Her writing is fun, and her characters feel realistic. Quincy was such a strong FMC. She was intelligent, capable, and so passionate about her job. I liked how she wasn't afraid to correct the men in her field when they got something wrong. Her dynamic with Sebastian worked so well. They both had this spark about them when nerding out about the weather together. Sebastian was also so down bad for Quincy and had been pining after her for years, which we love to see in an MMC. I'm hoping we get more books following the secondary characters because I adored this one and just want more. If you want a steamy, rivals-to-lovers romance for your summer TBRs, this is the one.

The Summer of Lost Things- Jenn Bennett: Paige Malone has just finished up her first and possibly only year at Harvard if she doesn't sort out her financial aid paperwork. To do so, she needs to return home to Michigan and confront her estranged father. While she's there, Paige also comes face-to-face with Seb Jansen, her former best friend, whom she hasn't seen in years. Paige and Seb, along with their two other friends, were once attached at the hip, pretending to search the shores for buried treasure. When a gold bar turns up, it reignites the local legend--which has ties to Paige's family--and she and Seb join forces, uncovering old secrets and long forgotten feelings along the way.
This had such a Fool's Gold-Goonies vibe to it, and I dug it. I was a little thrown off at first because I thought it was an adult romance, but it sits sort of in between YA and adult, which was fine, just not exactly what I was expecting. Bennett's writing was fun, and I loved the friendship between our four characters. The romance was a little cheesy, but the banter between Paige and Seb was cute. I felt that the plot started to get a bit chaotic towards the end, but it was a quick and entertaining read.

Don't Tell Me How It Ends- Adrienne Thurman: Kaia Harper has recently graduated from college and has no plan for her life. She could pursue a teaching job and put her degree to good use, but that doesn't sound too appealing. So when her pregnant older sister calls in need of help, Kaia decides to head back home to Connecticut. But when Kaia gets there, she's roped into her sister's new matchmaking business. Kaia prefers a one-night stand to a relationship, but if it'll make her sister happy, she's willing to grin and bear it. While Kaia is fending off her would-be suitors, the universe drops Ro Jackson into her lap. He's charming, handsome, and doesn't bat an eye at Kaia's cynical attitude. The pair become fast friends, with Kaia lamenting her bad dates and Ro sharing glimpses into his artwork and life, and Kaia begins to wonder if maybe opening her heart to someone isn't as scary as she thought it'd be.
I hadn't seen many people talk about this book, so I went in with no preconceived notions and had a blast. Kaia felt so realistic. She was flawed, and yes, it was frustrating watching her cynicism get in her own way, but it was relatable. It also made it even more satisfying when she started opening up and showing her vulnerable side to Ro. And Ro? He's a good man, Savannah. I loved watching them go from strangers to friends to something more. Ro became such a steady presence in Kaia's life, and while their romance is quite a slow burn, the payoff was worth it. I enjoyed Thurman's writing style and flew through this in under 24 hours, and I'm eager to see what she comes out with next.
