In Your Dreams Review (When in Rome, #4)

Hello, all!

Sarah Adams is one of my favorite authors, so I was thrilled to receive an ARC of In Your Dreams. Big thanks to the publisher!

You can check out my review of the previous book here.

Madison Walker has always felt like a failure. She's watched her siblings excel at whatever they've put their mind to, and Madison can't help but feel a little jealous. When she decided to leave her small town of Rome, Kentucky, and attend culinary school in New York City, Madison thought this was her chance to prove to herself and everyone else that she could pull it together. But two years later, all Madison has is a degree she barely earned and a new fear of the kitchen.

James Huxley will do anything to keep his family farm from going under. His family has tended the land for decades, and he refuses to be the one to sink that legacy. When Madison accidentally calls James, freaking out about her career, James offers her the lead chef position at the new farm-to-table restaurant he's opening. The only problem? James wasn't planning on opening a restaurant, but he's been pining after Madison, his best friend's sibling, for years, and will do anything for her-- even risk his farm if it means she gets to live out her dreams.

Ugh, I'm so sad to see this series end. I was so excited to finally get Madison and James's story after seeing snippets of them in each previous book. They've always had this teasing banter that I loved, and I enjoyed seeing a different side of them. Madison always came across as this sassy spitfire, but we got to see her insecurities and how she isn't as tough as she pretends to be. Same with James. He puts up a sunny front, but he cares deeply for those around him. Their relationship felt effortless, and I'm always a fan of an MMC who is so totally gone for the FMC. I didn't find the plot as strong as the previous books, but I just adore Adams's writing, so I can look past that, and I can't wait to see what she comes out with next.
