The Antiquarian's Object of Desire Review (Love's Academic, #3)
Hello, all!
Let's chat about The Antiquarian's Object of Desire by India Holton. Big thanks to the publisher for the copy!

Amelia Tarrant and Caleb Sterling have been best friends for years, but for the sake of their jobs as magical antique experts, they are the bitterest of rivals. Amongst their colleagues, they bicker and usually cause some type of explosion, but when they're alone, they let their true feelings for one another show. The pair's relationship has always been friendly, but lately, they've each been secretly wanting more.
When Amelia and Caleb are sent on a job to catalog magical items out in Cumbria, the pair are ecstatic not to have to pretend to hate one another. But what should be a quick and easy job turns chaotic when they arrive at the old manor house to find a trove of magical items going haywire and ghosts running rampant. Amelia and Caleb can deal with destructive teaspoons and annoying royalty apparitions, but having their secret feelings for one another thwarted at every turn is the last straw.I'm well aware that I sound like a broken record when it comes to Holton's books, but they just keep getting better and better. No one does wacky historical fantasy with a dash of romance better than she does. Her books are always zany and a little out there, but in the best possible way. The writing is always comical yet heartfelt, full of adventure, and filled with swoony interactions. I loved how Amelia and Caleb pretended to hate one another whenever they were around other people, but were so soft and loving when alone. Caleb gave me Howl vibes, and I loved how overly dramatic he was in the most charming way. I also loved how strong-willed Amelia was and her growth throughout the book. Once again, I'm sad to see another one of Holton's series end, but I’m excited to see what she comes out with next.
