Sawyer Review (Lucky River Ranch, #3)
Hello, all!
Let's chat about Sawyer by Jessica Peterson. You can check out my review of the previous book here!
| Pub Date: 4-24-25 Adult - Romance |
Ava is a recently divorced single mom who wants nothing more than to let her hair down on a rare girls' trip with her sisters. When Ava stumbles into a handsome man on the dance floor, she decides to let her inhibitions go and the pair have an intense night in a swanky hotel room. But Ava is just starting to rebuild her life with a new job in a new town, and she refuses to let another man tame her wild spirit.
As a single dad and rancher, Sawyer doesn't get a lot of time to enjoy himself. The last time he let loose was on a weekend away in Austin, where he met an incredible woman, only to have her leave as soon as the sun came up. But Sawyer hasn't stopped thinking about Ava, so he's shocked to come face-to-face with her when she moves to town. Under the guise of playdates, Sawyer and Ava begin spending more time together, and soon their attraction is too hard to ignore. But Sawyer has always dreamt about marriage and the white picket fence, and Ava's been down that road before, and it didn't turn out so well. Can she put aside her fear and open her heart again to the man who makes her feel alive?I've been loving this series lately, so I was eager to dive into Sawyer's story. Unfortunately, it fell a bit flat for me. I didn't connect to either Sawyer or Ava, which made it difficult to feel invested in their story. I liked certain aspects of their characters, though. Ava was a free-spirited person, and I admired her zest for life. Sawyer was steadfast and incredibly caring of those he loved. The chemistry and romance just felt a bit too surface-level for me, and while they had some deeper conversations, they were very few and far between. The steamy scenes were steamin', but I wanted more from them outside the bedroom. As in the previous books, the found family element was well done, and I enjoyed exploring that dynamic further. The relationship between their two daughters was also adorable. The romance in here just didn't work for me, but I'm still excited to continue the series.
