2026 Reading Goals and Journal Set Up

Hello, all and Happy New Year!

Time to share my reading goals for 2026 and a look at my reading journal.

Let's start with the goals first:
  • Read 150 books: I keep this the same every year, but the last two years I've doubled that and then some, and I'd like to make a conscious effort to slow down my reading and take my time. (Let's see how long that lasts 😅)
  • Cut back on audiobooks: I listen to at least two audiobooks per week, and lately I've found that I'm not retaining them as much. I think I've burnt myself out on them, so I'd like to try maybe listening to just one a week and seeing how that goes.
  • Pick up some neglected genres: I used to read from a variety of genres, but I mainly stuck to fantasy and romance in 2025. I want to make it a point to get back into other genres that I enjoy, namely historical fiction, thrillers, and horror.
  • Stop abandoning series: I have this terrible habit of starting a series and then completely forgetting about it, so my plan is that if I start a series (or if I'm already in the middle of one) I want to binge it all in one go.
  • Get better at posting my reviews: I'm really good about posting my book reviews right away to GoodReads, but it could be months (or in the case of some blog posts sitting in my drafts, years) before I remember to share them anywhere else.

Now, for my journal. I went pretty basic this year, but I like how they all turned out.

Do you keep a reading journal? What are some of your reading goals for this year?
