Maid for Each Other- Lynn Painter: Abi finds herself in a jam when she's forced to move out of her apartment due to an infestation. She has nowhere to go and not enough money for a hotel, so she rashly decides to stay at one of the apartments she cleans because she knows the owner is away on business. Abi plans on crashing for the night and figuring the rest out later, but when she wakes up she's met with the owner's parents who think she's his mysterious new girlfriend. Declan is too busy trying to work his way up the corporate ladder to date, but that doesn't stop him from conjuring up a fake relationship to appease those around him. So he's shocked when his parents tell him they've met his girlfriend, but Declan thinks he can use this to his advantage. He and Abi strike a deal: he'll let her stay at his place and provide her with some much-needed extra cash if she pretends to be the loving girlfriend he's told so many about. The pair couldn't be more different, so there's no reason to worry about real feelings getting in the mix, right?

Oh, Lynn Painter, you never steer me wrong. I can always count on her books to be a silly, swoony good time and this was no exception. It gave off Pretty Woman vibes just without the hooker part. Abi was charming and effervescent, while Declan was more commanding and had that stereotypical rich boy swagger. They were so different, but they complemented one another so well. One thing I love about Painter's writing is the banter, which was bantering here. It was so fun watching them push each other's buttons. I only had a few tiny gripes with it. I would've liked to have seen the plot spread out over a longer period so it didn't feel as insta-lovey. The other could be a me thing, but I wish Declan's parents got an explanation as to their little ruse because all I kept thinking about was whether or not Abi had to keep pretending to be this other person. Other than that, I flew through this and can't wait to pick up whatever Painter comes out with next.

Passion Project- London Sperry: Bennet Taylor had a plan. She would move to New York City with her boyfriend Sam, and they would start a life together. But after Sam tragically passes away, Bennet is left reeling. She's depressed with no direction and zero social life. When her roommate convinces Bennet to go out on a date, she ends up getting drunk and throwing up in a restaurant bathroom. Since nothing in Bennet's life can go right, she keeps running into the man she ghosted. Most men would give up when a woman stands them up, but not Henry Adams. He proposes a plan to help Bennet find her passion for life again, and to her surprise, Bennet agrees. Every week, the pair go on an adventure around NYC, and Bennet starts to feel her grief ebb away. When sparks begin to fly between the pair, Bennet must decide if she can put the past aside and allow her heart to love again.

I haven't heard many people talk about this book, so I didn't know much about it, but I was hooked. I connected with Bennet straight away. There were so many things I could relate to, and I could see myself so clearly in her. It wasn't hard to root for her and want good things for her. I thought the relationship between her and Henry was so sweet. He was patient, kind, and a little goofy. I liked how he helped break Bennet out of her shell. The story deals with heavier topics, but I thought Sperry handled them well. The plot did start feeling a bit repetitive with Bennet constantly getting in her way, which led to a frustrating third-act drama, but I still enjoyed it overall. If you're a fan of Cara Bastone, I think you'd like this one.

Our Infinite Fates- Laura Steven: Evelyn and Arden have been in love since before they can remember, their souls bound together throughout the centuries. No matter where their lives take them, the pair are destined to find one another and kill the other before their eighteenth birthday. Unlike Arden, Evelyn doesn't remember how the cycle began or why one must die when they love each other so deeply. But she does know that she's fond of her latest life, and she'll do whatever it takes to keep it. As Evelyn desperately tries to thwart Arden, she digs into their past and learns the bargain that ties them together is more sinister than she could've imagined.

Many people have been raving about this book lately, so I was excited to pick it up. Maybe that coupled with the fact that it's described as The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue meant that my expectations were too high, but I didn't enjoy this. I loved the premise, but I couldn't stand our two main characters. I thought Arden and Evelyn were so pretentious. I thought my eyes would fall out with how hard they had me rolling them. There's no depth or growth to their characters. I was looking forward to the reincarnation aspect, but even that was disappointing. I wanted to dig deeper into their histories, but they barely scratched the surface. I never felt they were truly in love since Steven never showed it. The ending was also anticlimactic and unsatisfying. I'm clearly in the minority regarding this book, but I didn't care for it.
