Recent Comic Reads
Hello, all!
Thor: The Goddess of Thunder, Vol. 1: This takes place after some events that leave Thor powerless and unable to wield Mjölnir, and a mysterious woman takes up the mantle in his place. This is an older series that I've read a few issues from but never continued so I wanted to revisit.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Black, White, and Green: This was a collection of a few different short stories following the turtles. The artwork was cool, but the stories felt a little too juvenile.
One of my goals for the last few years has been to get back into consistently reading comics/graphic novels again. I'm so bad at keeping up with releases, so I figured I would start going over some of my recent reads to (hopefully) hold myself accountable.
The Strange Case of Harleen and Harley: Harley Quinn is one of my favorite comic characters, so I had to pick this up. I thought it was a cute take on Harley's origins, and I liked the moments between her and Pamela, but I think it's definitely geared more towards a YA audience.
Dying Inside: This was co-written by Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, so you know it's for the mall goths/emos. It follows a young girl who wants to kill herself so she buys a knife online, but when it arrives she finds it's cursed to do the exact opposite. So she needs to track down the witch who sold it to her to try and reverse the curse. It was full of the teen angst you'd except from Wentz, but the witchy vibes were fun.
Firefly: Malcolm Reynolds: Year One: This is pretty much Mal's origin story. I liked getting more of his backstory, and while not my favorite (something about the art style doesn't click with me), I'm interested enough to continue.
